1st of May

May Day (Protomagia) in Greece!

Summer’s eventual victory over winter is celebrated with flowers and rituals to keep evil at bay. On this national holiday and according to tradition, people visit the countryside, have picnics, gather flowers and turn them into wreaths to hang on their front doors.

Like in many European countries, May 1st is a bank holiday in Greece, known as Labor Day. It is a celebration of laborers and the working classes that is typically promoted by the international labor movement, anarchists, socialists, and communists and occurs every year on the 1st of May.
